My recent paintings and prints have been influenced by Mexican folk art in which I have incorporated elements of magical realism, and a vibrant color palette.
One of my many current fascinations are with early American folk portraiture and "outsider art", which I translate into a contemporary and humorous format.
Underlying most of my work is an ongoing exploration of various aspects of gender in Western culture. For example, this visual language comes through by exaggerated stances of feminine and masculine appearance and dress in my figurative work.
